Piraeus, Greece - July, 2024
This early July we got invited to paint a mural on a school building under the intense July sun was challenging. Despite the scorching heat and some unexpected drama with the lift driver, we pushed through and finished the mural on schedule. Bringing vibrant colours to a place where children learn and grow was such an honour 🌸

“Guardians of the Deep”
Combining elements of history and marine life, this piece encourages us to consider our impact on the environment. It aims to inspire a sense of responsibility towards protecting our oceans, which have sustained life long before the dawn of human civilization.

Process - From concept to the wall:
It all began when Kiriakos, the organiser, got in touch with a theme for us to explore. I was in Bali at the time, working on designs while preparing for my Europe tour in 2024. Between planning flights and finishing other projects, I started sketching out ideas, exploring ways to blend human history with the timeless beauty of marine life.
After sending over a few design options, Kiriakos and the Piraeus Municipality chose the concept that best captured the balance between culture and nature. It was thrilling to see them connect with my vision of bringing together our shared heritage with the vibrant, enduring life of the ocean.
The Mural Process:
We’d only have the cherry picker lift for four days, with painting hours limited to 7 AM to 1 PM. With such a tight window, we needed a game plan to make every moment count and keep the workflow as smooth as possible.
Despite the tight schedule, the whole process flowed remarkably well, thanks to Kiriakos’s attention to detail and making sure we had all our materials ready. The school was empty for the summer holidays, giving us the perfect quiet space to focus on the mural. Each day was a mix of careful planning, quick decisions, and creative bursts as we watched the artwork come to life before our eyes.
Massive thanks to Kiriakos @urbanactgr for organising this wall, adding some colours to schools are a big honour 🫶🏼
